Reimagining Inventory Management in Nigeria.
In 2022, I was contracted to work with a team of 10 people on Syncventory, a platform aimed at changing how businesses in Nigeria manage their stock, inventory, and storefronts. It was particularly challenging and exciting because it targeted a different ecosystem than what I had previously designed for. This product is chiefly Nigerian focused, It required a design that takes into account local business practice. I was to design the E-commerce, order Management and stock control parts of the platform. Although the project was already underway, I conducted additional research to familiarize myself with these areas that were new to me.
Syncventory is a comprehensive inventory management platform designed to simplify the complexities of inventory control for businesses of all sizes.
With features ranging from real-time stock control to seamless integration with online and offline sales channels, Syncventory empowers businesses to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and drive growth. By providing a user-friendly interface, robust features, and scalable architecture, Syncventory helps businesses take control of their inventory and achieve greater success in today's competitive market landscape.
The Process
I created four proto personas that represent key user segments. These personas will guide our design and development process by highlighting the needs and goals of different types of users.
Syncventory serves the purpose of empowering businesses with the tool that offer features that range from real-time stock control and order management, to seamless payment integration with online and offline sales channels, product management, E-commerce, Business Intelligence and etc.
These features help to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and drive growth.
Order Management
Order Management is a core feature that encompassed "Sales Orders, Returns, Shipments, and Invoices." For this MVP, I designed the full process for creating sales order manually down to how merchants can access and efficiently track orders made and their various status. I used tables and forms to represent information vividly and in a less complex way.
Stock control
Stock control is another core feature that houses sub features like Purchase order and stock transfer. Understanding how complex these features were, I created an intuitive and efficient system that aims to make purchase order and stock transfer processes as user-friendly as possible.
E-commerce
The e-commerce store design encompasses features like store setup and storefront, product management, order management, customer management, analytics, and reporting for businesses, ensuring an efficient and user-friendly experience. It also allows merchants customise their online storefront how they see fit
